Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska is the Tribal Government representing approximately 27,000 Tlingit and Haida Indians worldwide. We are a sovereign entity and have a government to government relationship with the United States. The Council's headquarters is in Juneau, Alaska but our commitment to serving the Tlingit and Haida people extends throughout the United States.

 

Business and Economic Development Department (BEDD) of the Central Council is charged with developing and maintaining efforts and programs that promote business and economic development for our tribal constituents and constituent communities that will ultimately result in their self-sufficiency.

The purpose of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) is to initiate and sustain a local planning and implementation process by which jobs are created, more stable and diversified economies are fostered, and living conditions are improved. A CEDS is a mechanism for coordinating economic development activities and is a valuable tool for bringing focus to the planning and development efforts of persons and organizations throughout the region.

ActionStrategy Online Project Management System ScreenshotAs part of the Business & Economic Development Department's (BEDD) dual efforts of updating the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) and providing Strategic Planning assistance to the communities of Southeast Alaska, a partnership was formed. Collaborative efforts of Central Council's BEDD and the Self-Governance Departments along with those of the Southeast Conference and the Economic Development Administration have yielded exceptionally encouraging results.
