More About this site
HOW THIS SITE IS SET UP
This site is divided into the following sections:
- Fund Search - The Fund Search Section will link you to key government sites, like grants.gov, to review active grant solicitations. Generally you can download the funding solicitation and necessary application forms directly from these sites as you search. Alternatively, we have provided fill-in forms on this site.
- Pre-Application Preparation - Through this section, the reviewer will learn how to gather and download all necessary materials for the application including the funding notice, required grant forms, and necessary support documentation such as audited financial statements, tribal authorizations, and indirect cost rate authorizations.
- Finding Relevant Statistical & Community Information - Access information from the US Census Bureau and from other state sites which present updated demographics.
- Writing the Narrative - Learn how to write your program narrative to be responsive to fund agency ranking requirements.
- Developing the Budget and Budget Justification - Develop a realistic budget and provide proper support documents.
- Finalizing the Application - A last minute checklist.
- The Grants Wizard - walks you through the process of applying for two mock grants. We have selected HUD's Indian Community Development Block Grant program and ANA's Social and Economic Development Strategies program as sample applications because of their importance to Native communities.

WHAT THIS SITE DOES NOT DO
This is a training site only. There is no guarantee that any particular grant application will be funded. Grants are highly competitive and rated against a number of factors. Some grants will give a higher point value to proposals that are targeted on providing services in distressed areas or if you are proposing to provide services to distressed individuals. Your proposal must be logical, well thought out and convincing. This site provides the logistical tools necessary to put together a grant application. You must work at developing your writing skills.
